Universities & Colleges

Research is one of the key priorities and areas of achievement for universities all over the world. Many of these institutes are utilising solutions from SportsMed Performance and our partners to help with the education of their students as part of Sports, Medical and other research programmes.

The range of solutions available from SportsMed Performance enables your institution to offer a complete research environment, which enables you to take full control of exercise interventions, research projects and student studies. These solutions are built to support sports performance and inclusive wellness by encouraging independent training through simplified use, enhanced performance, increased motivation and active ageing, resulting in a more effective experience.

SportsMed Performance is committed to ongoing collaboration with top researchers, practitioners, and engineers, because we believe scientific development is the catalyst for continuous innovation and the creation of safer, more effective exercise for people of all ages and abilities.

AlterG

Over the years, we have seen some incredible research published from universities across the globe using AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmills. With its unique anti-gravity technology, these systems have been utilised in various research studies across multiple fields, particularly in rehabilitation and sports science.

  • Rehabilitation After Injury
  • Post-Surgery Recovery
  • Gait Biomechanics
  • Balance and Stability
  • Training Adaptations
  • Endurance Training
  • Exercise Programs
  • Stroke Recovery
  • Child Development

Researchers can create standardised conditions for assessing movement and recovery, leading to more reliable and valid results. The anti-gravity feature allows for safe exercise and assessment for populations that may otherwise be limited by pain or physical constraints. Its use spans various fields, from rehabilitation to sports performance, providing insights that can influence clinical practice and athletic training.

StrideSmart Gait Analytics and reporting tools allows for continuous monitoring of a user’s progress over time. This helps in making data-driven decisions regarding treatment plans and rehabilitation goals. The system can help optimise performance by identifying areas for improvement in running mechanics, leading to greater efficiency and reduced risk. The visual feedback provided by StrideSmart can motivate users by showing them tangible improvements in their gait and overall performance.

HUR

HUR offers a complete research environment, which enables you to take full control of the exercise interventions. The equipment offers a near zero starting load which means that those with reduced strength are able to take part in these studies.

HUR SmartTouch control enables a resistance increase of 100 gram increments which means an improved accuracy. This means that you can detect even the most minor of statistically significant changes, which would be undetected with conventional equipment. The system also keeps track of everything the person is doing at every given training session and the documentation is done automatically.

The unique automatic update feature will increase the loads as the person progresses and the software also estimates the one rep maximum at any given training session. This means that the progress can be tracked continuously and more accurately throughout the entire intervention.

The Centre for Movement and Wellbeing (MoveWell) at the University of Birmingham provides an unrivalled multi-level approach to support good health and prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of ill health. Central to the mission of MoveWell is the Strength and Conditioning facility, containing state-of-the-art accessible HuR training equipment, which will allow us to develop and deliver interventions to improve musculoskeletal strength and function across the spectrum of health and disease
